On the sleeper train we were awakened around 7:00 am by our steward delivering breakfast to our door - that was neat!
Our train arrived in London's Euston station which was crazy busy with commuters on a Friday morning at 8:00 am. We made our way to the tube (mind the gap!). This was my first experience with a subway and I have to say I'm not crazy about being (was it three?) three flights of stairs underground to get on a train.
Somehow, we had found exactly the correct route and it took us just around the block from our hotel. We found it quite easily (remember that for later tonight!)
Anyway the owner of the hotel that I had been in email contact with was going to try to get us an early check in so we could make our bus tour but she said she couldn't promise anything. She did offer to hold our room and our luggage and give us the opportunity to freshen up when we got there to make the tour. The room was ready and we were able to check in early. That meant Kjersti finally took a shower (she refused to bathe in the Highlands because the hotel was creepy - gross!)
Anyway, showered and fresh as a daisy the kids . . .napped

They had time for a short nap before we made our way down the block to meet our bus tour.

Surprisingly, we quickly found where we were to meet the bus. Because we got there so quickly we had to wait - and wait.

While we were waiting some poor delivery guy was piling stuff on a hand cart and nearly lost the whole business - so Paul had to help him. He seemed surprised - people in London aren't nearly as nice as those in Scotland.
Finally the bus came and Kjersti's smile faded again! We were the last stop for this particular bus and the last ones to get on the bus. They didn't reserve seats together for familys so we all had to sit by ourselves. This woman made her husband trade seats with me so I could sit with Paul. PC was sitting with a girl a few years younger than him from California. They were talking right along and sharing his iPod . But Kjersti - I wondered where the troll family was during this vacation.
On nearly every vacation that I can remember at some point we were visited by the troll family. This particular family was from someplace in the southern US but they were rude and poor Kjersti had to put up with them for hours on a bus.
