Trip to Scotland

Coming Home

Getting home was a bit harder than getting there. The onboard luggage restrictions are tougher. It literally took us the entire three hours we left for check in to get through and onto the plane.

At one point, in Gatwick Airport, we were standing in this line and I looked up and there was a heavily armed guard standing there. I looked to the other side of the group and there was another, and another. It was a little freaky realizing that one minute you're just standing there minding your own business and then suddenly, out of nowhere, you are surrounded by all this fire power. Then they walked the dog through to sniff luggage.

That was a little funny because with all that fire power the dog wasn't a German Shepard or some other tough looking dog, it was a cute little Brittney Spaniel. The dog's cuteness didn't take away from the guards screaming, "PUT ALL YOUR BAGS ON THE FLOOR! NOTHING ON YOUR PERSON! PUT ALL YOUR BAGS ON THE FLOOR!..."

They disappeared as quickly as they showed up and everything was good until they hauled this woman from Jordan away that apparently didn't have the correct answers to the questions they were asking her. So, it was a bit of a tense moment there.

Paul and PC planning the route home Kjersti and Kris

We made it back to the relative safety of my car, we're tired . . . we're going home to get some sleep. It was a quick trip, a busy trip, but it was a lot of fun, loaded with memories, and fulfilled my dream of visiting Scotland and especially Stonehenge.

Where are we going next summer?
PC could use some lessons - that's not him playing in the background!
