Arrival
Our plane arrived Saturday, July 21st just before 10:00 am (Edinburgh time - it was 5:00 am at home). We hopped on a bus that took us to the heart of Edinburgh and "us country hicks" had a time figuring out the bus schedule so Paul finally broke down and asked a bus driver for directions. He dropped us around the block where we needed to be to pick up the bus to our hotel - and didn't even charge us for the ride. That's the first thing you notice in Scotland - the people are so nice - nothing like here.
Since it was around 6:00 am home time it was understandable the first item on the agenda was a nap. We got to the hotel and had to wait a little bit for check in. Somehow the desk clerk thought I asked for late check in when in fact I was looking for early check in. It wasn't a big problem we left our luggage there and went looking for some groceries. By the time we got back we checked in.

We all got a bite to eat, then napped. It was raining and after sitting on a plane all night the bed felt very comfortable! So I got up a little after 4:00 pm (Scotland time) and everyone else was up and around except Kjersti. There was talk on the TV about flooding in England. We were all having flash backs to the flooding here last summer - but as it turned out the flooding there was nothing compared to here. There was really only one small area affected that didn't impact on our travel at all.
Below are more pictures of our hotel in Edinburgh. We had a two bedroom apartment. Note for the future: when you rent a room in the UK that says it has a "washer and dryer" - make sure it is an fossil fuel burning dryer not clothesbars in the closet!
